Help Save a Life At World Pneumonia Day

world-pneumonia-day-button_300Pneumonia kills over 2 million children under the age of 5 every year and has outranked HIV/AIDS, measles and malaria combined by becoming the number one killer of children. Meaning that one child’s life is claimed by pneumonia every 15 seconds of every single day.  What is so unfortunate is that most of these lives could be saves due to the little attention this deadly disease has received.

Earlier this month, the first ever World Pneumonia Day brought awareness to this killer and urged policymakers to find ways to prevent and treat pneumonia. Vicks, who is 100% devoted to the respiratory health of children and is privileged to help and support the cause. Vicks has partnered with Save the Children in order to help deliver treatment to children suffering with pneumonia throughout the world.

With P&G’s ongoing commitment to improve the lives of children in need throughout the globe, Vicks’ new partnership with Save the Children focus’ on preventing childhood pneumonia.  As the leader in respiratory health for over a century, Vicks is making the worldwide effort to protect and save thousands of lives from the leading causes of respiratory death, including pneumonia.

With well over 40 countries participating, the event located in New York City managed to bring together a exclusive coalition of health experts and journalists to educate and change the way the world responds to childhood pneumonia.  World Pneumonia Day showcased speakers and health experts in the field and brought together various groups that included: Save the Children, Women’s Refugee Commission, Antibiotic Consensus Society of Uganda and many more.
