A Mother’s Day Weekend New Movie, Babies

Babies, a new film scheduled to released on Friday, May 7th in theatres across the country and being shown throughout Mother’s Day weekend follows four babies around the world from birth to their first steps.

The children are: Ponijao, who resides with her family near Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who lives with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who resides with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who lives with her family in the U.S., in San Francisco.

Babies wonderfully showcases these children during the early stages of their life’s journey.

“The celebration of babies is a timeless tradition in any culture,” said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes. “And this film provides a perfect rationale for why the March of Dimes works so hard each and every day to fund research, education and advocacy programs that help five every baby a healthy state in life. We’re the champions for babies, and this movie shows us why they are so important to our lives.”

Babies is a proud supporter of the March of Dimes signature fundraiser, March for Babies, which will take place this spring in more than 900 communities across the United States. Setting a fundraising goal of $100 million.

Since the 70′s 1.8 billion have been raised to support and research program in local communities to help momsto have healthy, full-term peregnancies.

Focus Features CEO James Schamus said, “All of us at Focus could not be more pleased that our film will play a role in support of March for Babies. It’s a perfect match — a movie about the common humanity and love that unite us all, and one of the world’s great charities that works so hard to make sure that every baby can find his or her place in the world.”
