ENGAGING LIFESTYLE
V-me taps into Hispanics love affair with food, babies and pets with original hosted lifestyle series.

V-me Cocina – the only daily two hour cooking block on Spanish TV features top chefs from the U.S., Mexico, Latin America and Spain – and now will add daily hosted segments, creating opportunities for sponsor integration, along with an enriched online offer of even more downloadable recipes and tips, and enhanced community tools.

NATURE TALENT HUNT
V-me adds more to V-me Planeta, the daily block of award-winning natural history from PBS, BBC and NatGeo, with Buscando al Cronista Salvaje – a national multi-media talent search during Q4 2010. FREE Prekindergarten for ALL Four-Year-Olds

I have very important and great news for parents living 3 in Miami-Dade County.

The time has come for parents to enroll their children in Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten program (VPK).  This program is offered next school year to ALL children who turn four (4) years of age prior to or by September 1, 2010.  The school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August.

The summer program is available to ALL children who turned (4) years of age prior to or by September 1, 2010 and consists of 300 instructional hours and can begin as early as May 1.  In order for parents to register their child in the VPK program, they must obtain a certificate of eligibility (COE).  This document may be acquired at any of the following registration locations:

Registration sites will be open throughout the summer, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Parents may also register their child on the following Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on June 5 and August 7, 2010.

Parents must bring the following documents to complete the registration process:

§ Proof of Florida residency — A photocopy of a document verifying name and current home address.  Examples include: Bank statement, insurance policy, utility bill, valid Florida driver’s license, pay stub, or government document.

§ Child’s date of birth — An original document confirming each child’s date of birth. Examples include: Birth certificate, passport, a certificate of arrival in the U.S.A. showing age, valid military dependent ID, immunization document, and baptism certificate or other religious record showing child’s birth date. If one wishes to register a child and he or she is not the biological parent, that person must show proof of legal guardianship. To expedite the registration process, parents are also encouraged to bring a copy of the original document proving their child’s birth-date. Additionally, they should bring their picture ID and social security card, as well as the social security number of each child.

§ At the application site parents will receive:

1) A list of certified VPK providers in Miami-Dade County

2) A COE that must be taken to the parents’ chosen VPK provider

3) A parent/guardian responsibility information sheet

Note: Services are rendered on a first-come, first-served basis. Numbers will be distributed to the maximum number of parents that can be seen in the scheduled time allotted.  Once these numbers are used up, the line will close. For more information, please call (305) 373-3521.

Toy Story 3: Buzz, Jessie And The Paso Doble

For those who missed the great live performance of the Gipsy Kings on Dancing With The Stars, below is a glimpse of what you’ll hear and see in the highly anticipated Disney / Pixar Toy Story 3 scheduled to be released on June 18th, 2010.

The first video is a snippet of the new song from the Gipsy Kings “Hay Un Amigo En Mi” (“You’ve Got A Friend In Me”) and the other is a behind the scenes clip of Dancing With The Stars choreographers Cheryl Burke and Tony Dovolani as they show us how they brought Buzz and Jessie to life with the Paso Doble.


New Sesame Street Apps Now Available on iTunes and The App Store

Exciting news is coming for all who enjoy Sesame Street.  New Sesame Street apps are now available on the iTunes Store (www.iTunes.com), including Sesame Street TV episodes, Movies, Apps, Music and Podcasts.

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution will release 12 Sesame Street titles available for permanent download including “Elmo Loves You,” “Abby in Wonderland” and “Being Green.”

Wanting to promote learning, the “Learn Along with Sesame” series which is a collection of online educational resource videos featuring the Sesame Street Muppets and Podcasts which are available as free downloads to all iTunes customers.  Also available on itunes is the TV series episodes which are available in English and Spanish.  To find Sesame Street content, visit www.itunes.com/sesamestreet.

Sesame Street fans will be able to enjoy three new Sesame Street apps produced by the award-winning design and innovation consultancy (IDEO), joining the “Count with Sesame” series which debuted for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.  The new apps will feature Rosita, Bert and The Count encouraging Sesame Street friends to love with numbers with some fun new games.

In “Rosita’s Jump Count,” Rosita jumps rope and counts in English and Spanish as you jump from uno to 100.  You just hold the device in hand, stand up and jump!  This Sesame Street app encourages movement and learning.  As your child jumps, Rosita counts and the corresponding number appears on the screen using the built-in accelerometer in the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.  There are two formats in two languages—one where Rosita gives you a target to reach and the other where you can jump as many times as you can.

In “Bert’s Bag,” Bert’s collections are kept in brown paper bags.  What’s inside?  You must open the bag and shake out the contents to find out.  Help Bert count the silly and surprising items including marbles, toy cars and, of course, bottle caps in each bag.

“Count TV” features nine classic Sesame Street videos such as “Queen of 6” and Alistair Cookie in “1 Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”  Choose a number on The Count’s remote control to start counting the objects featured in the video.

“It’s easy to do math at home or anywhere with your preschooler,” said Chambers. “These latest apps featuring the Sesame Street friends encourage you and your child to look for simple objects to count, measure, and organize.  You’ll find that numbers can take you on many unexpected adventures.”

Dancing With The Stars: A Paso Doble With The Gipsy Kings

Be sure not to miss the live episode of Dancing With The Stars tomorrow, May 11, 2010 at 8 / 7 central on ABC. The Gipsy Kings will perform live “ “Hay Un Amigo En Mi” (“You’ve Got A Friend In Me”) from the new Disney / Pixar ‘s Toy Story 3 which will premier on June 18th, 2010.
