As parents, we are always looking for alternatives that encourage our children to eat healthier foods while making it fun and interactive.
Now, Safeway, Inc has made our lives easier by adding an extension to their Eating Right line products for adults by teaming up with Warner Bros. consumer products and creating Eating Right Kids. This new line offers healthy, flavorful, nutritious meals that our children will enjoy.
The product line includes over 60 items spread throughout 18 categories some of which include breakfast foods, meals, snacks, cereals, drinks and frozen entrees.
I recently received a few products from this line to taste and share with you all. My Eating Right Kids pack included whole-wheat macaroni and beef, apple juice, a chewy bar and fruit cup.
Being that my son is too young (10 months old) to eat these products, I decided that I would be the taste tester and find out how these products really stack up.
First, the fruit snack, I have to say that this snack didn’t taste overly sweet like others due to it being naturally flavored with an extra light syrup making this fruit cup very tasty.
The chewy bar was delicious, what was great about this snack is that it is low in sugar and you actually get to taste fruit.
The macaroni and beef was tasty, didn’t have the cardboard taste that I often get from whole wheat pasta.
Lastly, the apple juice was also tasty but had too many grams of sugar for my taste almost just as much as soda. Many may feel that providing juice to their kids is a better alternative over soda. For me personally, I am a big fan of providing children with water and limiting the amount of sugar they are taking in.
Overall what I liked about these products is that it provides servings of fiber, whole grain, calcium all of which children tend not to get enough of. I believe these products definitely provide parents with healthier tastier eating choices that children will truly enjoy.
